ELI provides unique tools to support scientific excellence across Europe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"275\" data-end=\"723\">At ELI Beamlines, four state-of-the-art high-power femtosecond laser systems have been developed and are in operation, achieving unprecedented intensity levels. The facility offers its users unique femtosecond sources of X-rays and accelerated particles, enabling groundbreaking research not only in physics and materials science but also in life sciences, laboratory astrophysics, and chemistry, with strong potential for practical applications.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"725\" data-end=\"1046\">Currently, several of the primary laser beamlines are fully operational, while others are undergoing expansion and upgrades to reach their full performance and maximize availability. ERICs are international research organizations formed by member states and international institutions to collaborate on advanced scientific endeavors.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"393\" data-end=\"637\">As its primary statutory mission, <strong data-start=\"427\" data-end=\"439\">ELI ERIC<\/strong> is responsible for providing access to the <strong data-start=\"483\" data-end=\"501\">ELI Facilities<\/strong> as a unified international organization, ensuring a seamless governance and management structure for the global scientific community.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"639\" data-end=\"1058\">The <strong data-start=\"643\" data-end=\"661\">Czech Republic<\/strong> serves as the host country for the <strong data-start=\"697\" data-end=\"724\">ELI ERIC statutory seat<\/strong>, located in Doln\u00ed B\u0159e\u017eany, just south of Prague, at the <strong data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"798\">ELI Beamlines<\/strong> facility. A second facility, <strong data-start=\"828\" data-end=\"840\">ELI-ALPS<\/strong>, is based in <strong data-start=\"854\" data-end=\"873\">Szeged, Hungary<\/strong>. Together with <strong data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"898\">Italy<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"916\">Lithuania<\/strong>, the Czech Republic and Hungary are the founding members of ELI ERIC, while <strong data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1004\">Germany<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1009\" data-end=\"1021\">Bulgaria<\/strong> participate as founding observers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1060\" data-end=\"1271\">In addition to these existing sites, a third <strong data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1121\">ELI facility<\/strong> is currently under development in <strong data-start=\"1156\" data-end=\"1167\">Romania<\/strong>, focusing on <strong data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1202\">nuclear photonics<\/strong>, and is expected to complement the ELI ERIC network in the future.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1273\" data-end=\"1322\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">For more details, visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eli-laser.eu\/\">ELI ERIC websites.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"45\"><strong data-start=\"4\" data-end=\"43\">What is the ELI Beamlines Facility?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"47\" data-end=\"251\"><strong data-start=\"47\" data-end=\"64\">ELI Beamlines<\/strong> is a state-of-the-art European research facility dedicated to <strong data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"151\">fundamental research<\/strong>, operating <strong data-start=\"163\" data-end=\"199\">four ultra-intense laser systems<\/strong>, each with unique characteristics and parameters.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"253\" data-end=\"622\">The facility features <strong data-start=\"275\" data-end=\"302\">five experimental halls<\/strong> and an <strong data-start=\"310\" data-end=\"341\">advanced biology laboratory<\/strong>, equipped with end stations that support a broad spectrum of scientific research. ELI Beamlines attracts both internal and external researchers across diverse fields, including <strong data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"619\">biology, medicine, physics, chemistry, materials engineering, space research, and nanotechnology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"1016\">Thanks to its high-power, ultra-fast laser pulses, ELI Beamlines enables scientists to probe deep into the <strong data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"766\">internal structure of molecules<\/strong>, observe <strong data-start=\"776\" data-end=\"800\">biological processes<\/strong> such as the behavior of viruses and microorganisms, explore the <strong data-start=\"865\" data-end=\"897\">principles of proton therapy<\/strong>, develop <strong data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"924\">new materials<\/strong>, study <strong data-start=\"932\" data-end=\"954\">space environments<\/strong>, and investigate <strong data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"1013\">nuclear waste acceleration techniques<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1362\">ELI Beamlines is part of the <strong data-start=\"1047\" data-end=\"1085\">Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI)<\/strong> initiative, a <strong data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1140\">pan-European research infrastructure<\/strong>, and is included in the <strong data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1237\">European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) roadmap<\/strong>. The broader ELI research network includes facilities in <strong data-start=\"1295\" data-end=\"1359\">the Czech Republic, Hungary (ELI-ALPS), and Romania (ELI-NP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1406\"><strong data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1404\">ELI Beamlines as a User Facility<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1844\">ELI Beamlines serves as a <strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1449\">user center<\/strong>, operating its unique ultra-intense laser systems and experimental facilities primarily for research teams from universities, research institutions, and private companies. Scientists can <strong data-start=\"1637\" data-end=\"1662\">apply for user access<\/strong>, and once approved, they are granted dedicated research time at the required facility. objective of the ELI Beamlines Center is to become a truly multidisciplinary, user-oriented infrastructure for carrying out revolutionary scientific experiments and applications in various fields, including physics and astrophysics, chemistry, biology, material science, medicine, etc., by combining advanced synchronized short laser pulses with ultra-high intensity and auxiliary particle sources RESOURCES<\/h4>\n<p>The ELI Beamlines Center provides research capabilities with a wide range of ultra high-intensity lasers excited by high-end lasers. These secondary sources, especially those based on completely new concepts, produce pulses of radiation of the highest intensity and quality of the beam, including electromagnetic radiation in a wide range and charged particles such as electrons, protons and ions.
